The reviews for the Singer 7442 Electronic Sewing Machine are fairly good.  The majority of the people that reviewed the product liked it but there were some that were not as happy as the others.  People that liked this sewing machine commented that it was easy to use and was an easy transition from an older machine to this one.  The threading system, stitch selection, and all of the other features seem very easy to use.  A lot of people said that it is a good starter machine and a really good machine for the price.

Not everyone fell in love with this sewing machine however.  A number of people commented that they were surprised by the poor quality of the machine, although others said that they were pleasantly surprised with the construction of it.

There are a few negative points that even some of the positive reviewers would agree with.  The fact that the needle always ends in the up position is supposed to make it easier to remove fabric and it does, but, a lot of people would prefer the option to leave it in the down position for pivoting.  A number of people also stated that the machine is not very responsive to the presser foot.  It does not start and stop immediately as pressure is applied or removed but rather it will continue for a few stitches when pressure is removed and some people report that when the presser foot is depressed nothing happens at first and then the machine surges.
