There are some pretty solid reviews online for the Brother SE350 Computerized Embroidery-and-Sewing Machine.  The machine is easy to use and the embroidery section will walk you through the prompts for changing thread colors.  Most of the reviewers agree that this is a great sewing machine with great features.

Some of the reviewers said that although this machine is great for sewing and does an excellent job of that, the monogramming and embroidery capabilities are limited.  They said that if you wanted to monogram letters larger than one inch you would need to buy a larger hoop and to adjust sizes you would need to purchase a digitizer.  Despite these drawbacks there were very few negative comments and most people said that they were very happy with this machine.  Many reviewers stated that it was the best sewing / embroidery machine on the market for the money and that it is a great machine for beginners.

For more functionality you can buy the optional PED Basic software so that you will be able to download additional designs online.  This will give you a lot more options.  If you are primarily into embroidery you may want to go with another machine but if you like to go back and forth from regular sewing to embroidery the Brother SE350 could be a very good choice.

I got this machine because I wanted to personalize things I make for my baby boutique. I wanted to monogram and put names on burp cloths, etc. It did take a bit for me to learn all about stabilizers and how to hoop my items and such, but once I got that all down I love it! I can say that this machine is GREAT for beginners. I didn’t want to fork out a bunch of money to discover I didn’t like or couldn’t embroider. I am glad I started with this machine. I can easily switch between sewing and embroidering and LOVE the sewing features on the machine.

I haven’t had any troubles with the embroidery side. Some say they have bobbin issues, but I haven’t noticed any. I am using the correct bobbin embroidery thread so maybe that is their issue I dont know. I would definately say once you learn you’ll probably want to get the PES card reader so you can do more designs. My next step is to learn to applique with the embroidery machine….anyone want to email me how?? lol
