The reviews for the Brother 1034D 3/4 Lay-In Thread Serger sewing machine are quite impressive to say the least.  We were able to find over 500 reviews online and an astounding 94% of the reviewers gave the Brother 1034D a rating of 4 or 5 out of 5 stars.  This is a very versatile machine that can be used for a wide variety of sewing needs.  Most of the reviewers agree that this machine is easy to use and easy to learn.  People who were initially intimidated by all of the different thread and tension options said that the machine was very easy to use and that the instruction booklet and DVDs included were very helpful in getting them up to speed quickly.

There were very few negative comments about the Brother 1034D.  We like to report our findings both good, bad, and everything in between and the only negative comments we were able to find about this machine is that for some people threading the machine was a little difficult to figure out at first and sometimes takes a little longer than they would have expected but even these types of comments are few and far between.

This serger has been just what I was hoping for. I am a beginner with sergers and all the sewing shops wanted to sell me sergers for $1000.00 and up. I have been very pleased with the function and usability of this product especially for the price. I couldn’t say one bad thing about it and Amazon came through on the shipping much sooner than I thought.

Everyone needs a serger. I don’t have a lot of knowledge and this machine was perfect. I was able to thread it with just a little help from the DVD. It works like a dream. My mother in law owns a very expensive machine that she paid well over $1000 for, and I feel my machine that I spent around $200 for works just as well.

I like it better too. This is a great machine especially if you are new to sewing and just want something to help you finish edges. I use mine for almost everything. I serge the edges of fabric before I wash it, I serge the edges of fabric before I sew them, I just love to serge

I have been sewing for 25 years, although time did not permit “serious” sewing until the last few years. I have wanted a serger for some time but didn’t want to spend alot, especially since I’ve never worked with one!
I did a lot of research befor purchasing the Brother 1034D machine. I’m glad I did! I LOVE this thing! As a beginner serger, I watched the CD’s that came with it and was amazed at how fast I was able to begin my first project, and play around a little to see what it could do. I would highly recomend this machine to anyone looking to purchase quality without requiring a loan. I am still learning all that it can do (I’ve only had it a few months) but couldn’t be happier with my first serger!! This is the perfect machine to learn some great skills on.
Although, I must admit, i’m still rather intimidated with threading the lower looper, but thank God for good advice in attatching the new thread to a length of the old already threaded. I never would have thought of it!!

P.S.
I never would have thought to use fishing line to sew with!! I hope Brother and other owners will continue to clue the rest of us newbies in on other tricks and tips to expand our sewing skills.
